Cultural Responsiveness

At Hauraki School we value the diversity of our students and families and endeavour to weave different cultural perspectives through our learning programmes.

In our classrooms we explicitly incorporate aspects of Te Reo and Te Ao Māori into day-to-day learning. Kapa haka takes place weekly for each of the seniors and junior students who wish to partake. Opportunities to perform at local events are encouraged.

In addition, the school caters for resident and non-resident students for whom English is a second language to enable them to fully participate in classroom programmes. These are provided with regular lessons, normally two or three times weekly, by a specialist ESOL (English as a Second Language) teacher.
