Community Partnership

We value knowing and involving the people who make up our diverse learning community. Fostering wellbeing and strong relationships between staff, students, and their whānau is aspired to.

There are opportunities during the course of the year for teachers and parents to share information on student progress and achievement. Early in Term 1 there is a ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening when teachers outline programmes of work, explain routines, and discuss work and behavioural expectations.

Parent interviews to discuss children’s progress are held mid Term 1 and at the end of Term 2. As well, a written report is provided at the end of Terms 2 and 4.

Parents are able to make an appointment at any other pre-arranged time through the office or directly with the class teacher. The Principal has an open-door policy and is also available to meet parents on request.

A school newsletter is sent to all parents on alternate Thursdays. It is important that you read these to keep up with what is happening at school. Newsletters are also available online here.

Periodically, parents are invited to sharing assemblies and/or to view work in classrooms.

Each year parents are encouraged to assist in classrooms and rosters are set up. Junior and Middle School teachers especially welcome parent helpers in classrooms. Each class teacher will roster interested parents so that time frames and nature of the commitment is clear to you.

We are also grateful for assistance in resource rooms, library, sports, and trips outside the school, and look forward to your involvement.

Teaching staff will apply a risk assessment when utilising the assistance of parent volunteers and will take steps to eliminate if possible, or minimise, any risk. Police vetting will be undertaken in respect of all parents staying overnight on school trips or camps and may be sought in other circumstances where parents have sole charge of school children (other than their own) during school hours.
