Below is general information about school organisation.  Please contact us if you have any questions that are not answered on this website.
 
Absences
Please phone the school before 9am if your child is absent that day. For safety reasons it is important that we can account for all students who are absent from their classrooms when the register is called at the beginning of the day. Before and After-School Care
This high-quality service is provided by Mrs Sharon Daulton, a teacher at Hauraki. She offers a structured programme daily based in the Hauraki School hall. Banking
Banking at school in partnership with the National Bank commenced on 1 August 2007. Children can open accounts and deposit money between 8.30 and 9am every Wednesday (in the Administration Block). Application forms available from the school office....[more]

Belongings
All belongings must be named, particularly uniform items, hats, shoes and swimming togs. Toys are not permitted at school and precious belongings are discouraged for obvious reasons....[more]

Bikes
Children 9 years of age and over are able to ride bikes to school once they have passed a test and been issued with a licence by the NZ Police....[more]

Dental Clinic
Pre school children from 2 1/2 years are able to attend the Clinic. All children at school undergo dental inspection and where necessary treatment when the Dental Nurse visits over two four-week periods during the course of the year. Dress
School uniform is compulsory for all students. Jewellery is not permitted and children with pierced ears should wear studs only. Sports uniforms are provided for all participating teams at a small rental....[more]

Homework
This is set on a regular basis, Juniors (Years 1 and 2) up to 20 minutes per night, Middle School (Years 3 and 4) 30 minutes per night Monday to Thursday, and Seniors (Years 5 and 6) 40 minutes per night Monday to Thursday. Library
All classes have timetabled sessions, but as well the library is open daily during lunch breaks for pleasure reading and borrowing. Children in Years 3 and up are allowed two books for up to a fortnight, while younger children may have one book at a time for a maximum of one week. A charge of $15.00 is made for lost library books....[more]

Lost Property
is placed in a box under the pergola daily, and at the end of each term what is left is sent to a charitable organisation. Please make sure all uniform items are named for obvious reasons!...[more]

Lunches
Children should bring their lunch to school each day and something for morning tea as well. No glass containers or sweets are allowed. Pita Pit orders are taken on Mondays and most Fridays children can order either sushi or something from the monthly PTA sausage sizzle....[more]

Newsletters
A school newsletter is provided on alternate Thursdays and contains a variety of items. It is important that you read these to keep up with what is happening at school. They are also available here on our website....[more]

Parking
Parents dropping off and collecting children must observe the parking restrictions near the school entrance. No parent cars should enter the school grounds between 8.30-9am and 3-3.20pm. Anyone leaving the school grounds at this time should turn left at the top of the drive, and U turn at the bottom of the street....[more]

Road Safety
All children and parents are expected to use the pedestrian crossing when wanting to get to the other side of the road. This is patrolled by wardens at the beginning and end of the school day. Parents please also read item about parking....[more]

School Hours
Children should arrive at school between 8.15-8.50am. Children arriving before 8.30am should wait in the pergola area. After 8.30am children are encouraged to hang up their bags, put homework books in desks, sharpen pencils, and be ready for the day. School timetable as follows....[more]

School Houses
On enrolment each child is allocated a House, North, East, West or South to encourage school pride. We encourage children to wear a House T-shirt for competitive events and special days. These are available from the office at $15 each....[more]

Stationery
This is provided by the school normally at the beginning of each year, once payment is made. New entrants will receive a stationery pack on arrival. Replacement items are available from the school office throughout the year at cost price....[more]

Swimming
This normally takes place during the first six weeks of the school year and the last three or four weeks depending on the weather. Children are timetabled for instructional lessons and all are expected to participate unless a very good reason for exemption is provided by parents....[more]
